Description

Why Upgrade the Saddle? The bridge saddle is a vital part of the resonator guitar’s complete sound engine. All of the initial vibration of the strings has to pass through the saddle that holds those strings in place on the bridge. If the saddle is soft wood or non-resonant material, if it absorbs the vibration, or if it is loose fitting then it will decrease the resonator’s ability to do its job. The Replogle Reso koa saddle is made from quarter-sawn koa for the best warm tone and projection, while the compensation on the saddle helps with the intonation.

Why Koa? An exotic hardwood from Hawaii, koa has been associated with resonator guitars since even before their beginning, having been the preferred wood used in the legendary Weissenborn Hawaiian lap-style slide instruments that were precursors to the Dobro. Koa provides a warmer tone than maple and gives a special softer edge to the tone and projection. Replogle Reso saddles use hand-selected, premium quarter-sawn koa for the best resonant response on the bridge. Enhance the woody tone and mellow sustain of a Dobro or reso of any brand with a Replogle Reso classic, quarter-sawn koa saddle.

Compensated Koa Saddle

Why Use Compensation? Take advantage of the innovative Replogle Resos compensated saddle to improve intonation and tuning. Resonator guitars are infamous for having intonation “challenges”, meaning that the guitar does not play in-tune consistently up and down the neck, even though it may be tuned correctly when played in an “open” (unfretted) position. The Replogle Reso compensated saddle is carved on the top to enhance the intonation of all six strings.

Koa Saddle with Radius

Why is the Saddle Radiused? Replogle Saddles are available in a 16” radius configuration as needed for the both radius fingerboard biscuit-bridge cones and the radius fingerboard versions of spider-bridge resonators. Radiused-fingerboard round-neck models are set up with typical acoustic guitar specs, and are played with the usual acoustic guitar picks and finger-style. These models will need the radiused Replogle Saddles
